lot details lot no 63 description Mear One Self Sacrifice Mear One (American, b.1971) Self Sacrifice, 2010 Acrylic on canvas Signed in orange paint lower right 1225 x 760 mm (48 1/4 x 30 in) Provenance: Submitted for sale by the artist Mear One began his career in 1986 as a graffiti artist living in Los Angeles and he has since been labeled as “The Michelangelo of Graffiti” and “The Salvador Dali of Hip-Hop” and is considered by many to be Los Angeles’ most prolific graffiti artist because of the way he revolutionized graffiti with his fine-art realism, by breaking out of traditional 2D letter forms, and using perspective to develop complex characters with dynamic backgrounds in epic scale.
